Carroll Family Session | Utah Family Photographer
Spring is such a special time for family photo sessions. The wildflowers are just beginning to bloom, and there's a feeling of renewal in the air. Last week, I had the chance to work with my friends Brooke and Brigham and their two kids, Harper and Jax, to capture some family photos among the newly blossoming fields. It was one of those sessions where you just know it's going to be a fun, high-energy shoot, so I was ready to move quickly to capture those genuine moments.
We met at a local park that has a stunning array of wildflowers every spring. The colors were vibrant, with bursts of white peeking up through the grass. Harper and Jax, two of my favorite kids EVER, had a lot of energy, so I knew I needed to be quick on my feet to capture their spontaneous joy before they got too tired.
We kept the session moving at a steady pace, taking breaks to let the kids rest and re-energize. As we walked through the park, I encouraged Brooke and Brigham to just be themselves—talk to the kids, hold hands, share jokes. It’s those unscripted interactions that make for the best photos. The more relaxed they were, the more I was able to capture the essence of their family.
It was a fantastic session, and I'm so glad I got to be part of it. The wildflowers, the kids' energy, and the genuine connection between Brooke and Brigham made it a memorable day. If you're planning a family photo session with young kids, I'd recommend choosing a location that lets them run and play. And you can trust me to move quickly—you never know when those little ones will hit their limit!
