Beth & Marcus | Mountain bridal Session | Utah wedding photographer
Big Cottonwood Canyon is a stunning location for any photo session, but it’s especially magical for bridal sessions. The lush greenery, the sweeping views, and the tranquility of the canyon create the perfect backdrop for couples in love. Last summer, I had the chance to photograph Beth and Marcus for their bridal session in this beautiful setting. It was a memorable day, complete with vibrant grass, a swarm of mosquitoes, and one of the most heartwarming first looks I've ever witnessed.
We arrived at the canyon on a warm afternoon, and the colors were amazing. The grass was a deep, rich green, stretching out beneath the tall trees that lined the trails. The air was crisp and fresh, and there was just enough of a breeze to make everything feel alive. Beth and Marcus were in high spirits, excited about their upcoming wedding and eager to get some beautiful photos in this stunning location.
However, there was one unexpected challenge: mosquitoes. Lots of them. We had come prepared with bug spray, but even that didn't completely deter them. Despite the buzzing and swatting, Beth and Marcus were total troopers. They laughed about it, taking it all in stride, and even made a game of seeing who could shoo them away faster. It definitely added an element of adventure to the session!
The highlight of the session was their first look. Marcus stood on a small path, and Beth walked up behind him, her dress flowing gracefully as she moved. When he turned around and saw her, the expression on his face was priceless. It was a mix of surprise, admiration, and pure joy. You could tell he was blown away by how beautiful she looked, and she was equally thrilled to see his reaction.
They shared a moment, just the two of them, as I snapped photos from a distance. They whispered to each other, laughed, and embraced, completely absorbed in their own world. It was one of those moments that feels so intimate and special that you're almost hesitant to intrude. But I knew it was important to capture it, because it was a moment they would want to remember forever.
As the session wrapped up, I couldn't help but feel grateful for being part of such a beautiful moment in Beth and Marcus's journey. Bridal sessions like this are more than just photos—they're about capturing the love and excitement that comes with starting a new chapter together. If you're planning a bridal session, I'd recommend Big Cottonwood Canyon, but be sure to pack plenty of bug spray!
